Intensity beginning with the Warm-up

My intensity can be reduced to a single orange warm-up jersey bearing the number 29. As we stood behind the doors waiting to step out on the court my heart would race. What calmed me down was knowing how intimidating my teammates and I looked in our warm-ups. It gave me confidence in my skills, passion in my heart, and intensity on the court. This jersey brought on my initial burst of adrenaline; with it on I was unstoppable. I played to win. To this day the only jersey I have kept is that orange warm-up bearing 29.

(Word Count: 99)

  1. I like this one. I can relate to how a number or a jersey, or even your team's colors can really represent yourself.

  2. I feel you! Why 29 though? I'd like to know why that number is so significant. I wear number 13 whenever I play basketball, and I chose that one because of my favorite basketball player, Steve Nash. There's nothing like wearing a jersey though. Man, oh man.

    1. 29 was my first varsity number. When I got moved up it was the only number left. From that day on I told myself I would wear the number proudly; ever since then it just has motivated me.

  3. Your imagery really put me in the moment, and I can relate to the idea that clothing effects a person's feelings. I used to be really involved with theater, and every time I put on my costume, butterflies would start in my tummy and I just felt...ready. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Can completely agree with this. Wearing a team uniform of any kind, there's no feeling like it. Especially come off a team bus all wearing the same warm up, just makes playing a sport that much better and seem even more like a family.

  5. I can relate with you and your jersey since I played soccer and my jersey number was 3.
