110th

110th street, Stone Harbor, the street where the waves push against the jetty creating the perfect curl. This beach represents a lifestyle; 110th street is the surf only beach, surfers flock to catch nice waves and be with friends. We are a community that shares the same passion for surfing. The rush of paddling your hardest, popping up, and catching the perfect wave is an indescribable feeling for us. The love we have for this particular surf spot is unWAVEring. 110th street is our identifier; it is our home, and taking away this beach would take away half the fun.

  1. I love this! Your writing style is great throughout and the image compliments your essay. I would have maybe included a little more scene in the beginning but it is good otherwise!

  4. Like Ashley said, your writing style is awesome and you have a distinctive voice.

Tell me if I'm off-base here, but I think you could have made it more personal if you described *yourself* experiencing the "rush of paddling your hardest" and catching a wave, instead of saying *we* were doing it.

  5. I think surfing is one of the coolest things ever and it's awesome that you're so into it! I loved the way you described the waves and added the pun "unWAVERING", made me chuckle while reading. Perhaps you could have made it a bit more personal, as Matthew mentioned too.

  6. I love your use of language here that shows how connected you are to the surf culture! Its really awesome that you find a place like this home and that there is a community that surrounds it. It was really fun experiencing this with you over the past summer as well! Maybe explain how the beach became THE surf beach!
